Sight Words and Chuck E Cheese

Elle had her sight word test this week so I told her if she could get more than 35 out of 40 we would go to Chuck E Cheese after school. Well you know this girl nailed it!

We had a laid back weekend. Popcorn and movies on Friday night.

Jay slept in Elle's bed for first time ever Friday nt and watched Peter pan.

Got up Saturday and painted pictures and went swimming.

MS State played USM for the first time in a long time this year so we had to go witness this beat down. It was a monsoon of rain in Starkville that day. JB and I waited for the rain to ease up and we left her house in the golf cart headed to tailgate.

By the time we were gettting on campus it was raining hard and blowing in on us and the kids.

We got to the tailgate and the kids were loving life playing in the rain. The played for about 2 hours and then were cold and wet and wanted to go home. So we loaded them up and went back to JB's to a warm bath, PJs, and bulldogs on TV. Fun times!

Kindergarten shots

This big girl had to have 2 shots for kindergarten. She heard that this might happen and had been asking me if it were true. I told her yes but not to worry about it yet. I didn't tell her it was shot day until I picked her up from school and we were on the way. She got a scared look on her face and here came the questions. I told her that it was going to hurt but only for a second and that I would hold her hand. I also added that when Jay got a shot about a month ago for a staph infection that he didn't cry. She said she was ready!

She failed her hearing test in her right ear b/c of fluid. Dr said to come back in 3 weeks for a checkup to make sure fluid was gone and hearing was ok. She ended up getting a nasty ear infection with draining before the 3 weeks was up so now she's taking antibiotics. Hope it clears everything up and she passes her hearing test when we go back in 1 month.

Monday is PE day at BDS so kids wear their jersey with nicknames on the back. The girls at dance all call her "Elle Bell" so that's what we went with.

First Day of Kindergarten

Another milestone has come and gone. Elle started kindergarten at Benedict Day School. She has been asking every day this summer when she gets to start and was so excited. I took her and walked her to her classroom the first day and she did great!

July

July has been a pretty busy month for us. I was cooking dinner one night and Josh and I both heard a crash in the living room. Elle was watching TV so Jay was trying to aggrevate her and block the TV. He climbed from the top of the couch to the toy box and jumped onto the TV attempting to hang and pulled it off the shelf on top of himself. He was not hurt and the TV didn't appear to be damaged until we plugged it back in. NEVER a dull moment!

One of my patients brought me this birdhouse so I took the kids to buy art supplies to paint it. This kept them occupied for a while and they were both so intense.

Elle was intense and made sure every part was perfect.

We went to Owen's bday party at Chuck E Cheese. He goes to M&M with Elle and also they know one another from church.

I took the kids to the movies to see Malificient. I was concerned it might be too scarey but they loved it.

Jay had PJ day at school that day so we rolled on to the movies in his cubs PJs.

We went to Anna Cooper's bday party at Bristles where they got to paint a mermaid on canvas. Elle loved it. The girl that owns Bristles is also the art teacher at BDS (she and I knew each other from high school too)

To celebrate the 4th of July we took the kids to canebrake where they had cotton candy, dancing, food, jumpy houses, face painting, and a firework show. Elle stood in line for 45 minutes waiting to get her face painted. Needless to say we didn't wash her face for a couple of days so she could enjoy it.

VBS

Elle attended VBS at our church and Friday was dress up in your favorite island themed clothing! We went with Hawaii!

Elle and Mary Clayton have been taking a tumbling class together this summer and the little brothers want to go to! They got a trip to the snowcone stand while the sisters were at tumbling. Jay loves a rainbow snowcone.

Beach trip #2

We were home for a few days and then left to go back to Orange Beach to stay at the Perdido Beach Resort for a Chicago Title conference. We went do a dinner/banquet one night and had to leave b/c Jay was having a good old fashioned meltdown.

We came home to poor Jay having 2 accident reports at school the next week.....he ran into the wall on the playground one day and then a little girl hit him in the face with a toy another day. Then, he got a full body rash that turned into a staph infection! Had to get a shot----he didn't even cry....and take a round of antibiotics. Poor fella
